The<\/span><\/span><\/span> agreement has been stipulated between the<\/span><\/span><\/span> Department of Statistics, Computer Science, Applications (DiSIA) <\/span><\/span><\/span>at University of Florence<\/span><\/span><\/span> and the <\/span><\/span><\/span>Department of Statistics at Rice University<\/span><\/a>, <\/span><\/span><\/span>with<\/span><\/span><\/span> the aim to<\/span><\/span><\/span> enrich research and teaching <\/span><\/span><\/span>programs, <\/span><\/span><\/span>s<\/span><\/span><\/span>trengthening <\/span><\/span><\/span>the connection between both institutions.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Francesco Stingo<\/a>, the initial program coordinator at the University of Florence, had the opportunity to study and work at Rice University \u201cRice campus is located within the city of Houston, a vibrant and cosmopolitan metropolis. Rice is well-known for both teaching and research; while at Rice, I learned a lot from both excellent faculty and national and international classmates. I greatly benefited form this experience, both professionally and personally.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe visiting exchange\u00a0program encourage professors,\u00a0researchers\u00a0and\u00a0PhD students from both universities to\u00a0promote seminars, courses, conferences, lectures, joint research projects and discussions of common interest\u201d\u00a0stated\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>Carla Rampichini,\u00a0Head of\u00a0DiSIA and<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Alessandra Mattei<\/span><\/span><\/a>,\u00a0representative of the international university agreements for\u00a0DiSIA.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

On this occasion Marina Vannucci<\/a>, now Noah Harding Professor of Statistics at Rice University who earned the Ph.D. degree in Statistics at the University of Florence, will deliver a short-course to DISIA Ph.D. students and will held the Data Science Christmas Lecture<\/a> on 16th<\/sup> December at the Florence Center for Data Science<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
